launching international stars since 1997

Our adult classes start at the Introduction to On-Camera level for beginners and build up to our Master Class with Artistic Director Salvatore Antonio and Studio Director and Founder Dean Armstrong. We're very specific when placing actors in a class to ensure that they are growing and challenging themselves alongside their peers. Our goal is not only to get your work up to industry standard, but to ensure that it is competitive as quickly as possible. We want to see our actors work and getting paid for it.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I found myself at AAS five years ago as an aspiring actor unsure of where or how to begin in the industry. Since then, AAS has become a critical part of my training as I continue to build a strong foundation in craft while simultaneously honouring my instincts as an artist on set. Dean and his amazing coaches have taught me almost everything I know from the fundamentals of script analysis to the nuances of a strong on-camera presence.  For any actors who are passionate about this profession but unsure of where or how to begin, it's never too late to take those first steps and AAS is the place for anyone ready to learn and prepared to work!

CORE ACTING IV
w/salvatore antonio

This is an on camera training Master Class. CA IV has been designed to forge an organic connection between the actor and acquired knowledge and skill by divorcing them from the need to "choreograph" pre-planned emotional responses and artificial performances. This class fosters a willingness to engage in the spontaneous and to celebrate the unpredictable in partnered work.

CA IV offers the most advanced AAS students an opportunity to exercise and hone their craft. The caliber of those enrolled is closely filtered in order to ensure that admitted students are surrounded by equals at an enriched learning level - much like the onset reality.

Requirements:
Agent representation, headshot and resume, previous theoretical and practical experience and/or successful completion of Core Acting III. Admission at the discretion of both the School's Director and Artistic Director.

SPECIALTY CLASSES

CORE ACTION CONDITIONING

Get out of your head. Get into your body. Unlock your instincts.

CAC is designed to activate the actor's imagination, and help them find their own way to the heart of the scene.

Beginning with 3 Questions: Is it Believable? Is it Relevant? Is it Compelling?

We will explore techniques for breaking down scenes into manageable, actionable sections, and unlock tools for finding a personal connection to the character and situation. We'll see how our own habits help (or hurt) our access to the character. We'll be asking ourselves why people do what they do, and how it invites us to act.

This course will be adjusted and augmented for the individuals involved, while maintaining an aggressive commitment to safe-space play, and a warmth and generosity of spirit.

Units of study will include:

Intensive character analysis
Actioning and Risk (specificity and clarity training)
The Actor's Rolodex (using memory to make connections)
Drone Notes (how language lands you in the present)
Points of Concentration (getting your head into the game)

AAS COVID-19 POLICY

All group course participants are required to provide proof of vaccination.

Masks that cover the nose, mouth, and chin are required to be worn during class. Masks may be removed when the actor is performing on camera - there will be at least 6 feet of space between the performing actor and all other class participants. WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"The first time I worked with Salvatore was for my audition for Bad Blood which I booked from that tape, and there were things we tried out in that audition session that stuck with me, that I used until my last day on set. The atmosphere Salvatore creates in the room is of passion and excitement for the role and project you're going in for. Because of his approach, when I leave the room I often not only feel confident in the work, but observe I experienced joy doing it, and that for me is what this is all about."
