1. Does Dean teach any of the classes?
Yes. Dean's teaching availability is determined by his acting and on set acting coaching schedule. Dean's instruction is limited to advanced level, master class and specialty workshops only.
2. Does Dean provide private coaching?
Yes. Dean is always selectively expanding his personal coaching roster. This training is available for clients by referral and/or interview only for the purposes of craft development as well as audition preparation.
3. What are Dean's private coaching rates?

rates are $100.00/hour + G.S.T. $105.00 (Includes DVD)
4. What is the age range of actors/students at the school?
Armstrong Acting Studios provides training for Pre-Teen (8 - 12), Teen (13 - 18) and Adult (19+).
5. I am a new and aspiring actor. Do I need to have previous training or experience to study at The Armstrong Acting Studio?
Previous training and/or experience is always recommended to students of A.A.S., however it is not a determining component of our admissions process. All training at A.A.S. is designed and engineered for the serious actor who wants results and who wants to work. Admission to introductory classes is not determined by any school mandate or requirement.
6. Do I need to audition for Armstrong Acting Studios?
All class enrollment is at the discretion of the Studio Director.
Selected Intermediate and Advance level classes require admission assessment
which may include an on camera audition in order to meet the criteria for class
placement.
7. Is The Armstrong Acting Studios affiliated with a talent agency?
No. Neither Dean or the school are exclusive to any one agent or agency in Canada or The United States. Armstrong Acting Studio provides direct and immediate service and training for its actors, and its actors alone.
8. What am I required to bring to class
As part of their tuition, all actors/students are provided with a rewritable DVD in order to document the growth, progress and development of their work. Discs remain at the school for the duration of the class but are available for outside/home review when signed out. Actors are also encouraged to take notes on a regular basis.
9. Is it possible to see a class in action before I enroll?
Yes. Auditing is available by advance request only for all classes at
Armstrong Acting Studios at $25.00 plus GST = $26.25 per class . Auditors can
audit a maximum of two classes which must be consecutive. Audits must
be booked at least 24 hours prior to the start time of the requested
class.
10. Are actors/students evaluated over the course of a semester or program?
Yes. All actors receive an evaluation/report card at the close of each semester which is mailed within one week of the class end date. These evaluations are based on the progress and development of the given actor over the course of the program and serve as basis from which progressional and continued training at Armstrong Acting Studios is allowed. Individual grades and reports are documented at the school and are available to the agents of actors for their review.
12. My son/daughter is enrolled at Armstrong Acting Studios, may I sit in on and watch one of their classes?
No. All classes at Armstrong Acting Studios operate under a closed door policy for the privacy of our students. Semester classes feature a final showcase on the last day of classes when students are able to share their work with an invited audience of family, friends and industry guests (including agents). Audience members will be privy to a live studio taping of prepped material as well a post Q & A session with the instructor(s) and student.
12. What is Armstrong Acting Studios' policy on tuition payment?
FULL COURSES (13 weeks)
$100 deposit plus GST (non-refundable)
required to secure seat in course. Balance of tuition is due on first
class. Any student not paying full balance on 1st day will be subject
to a $25 late fee and required to set-up a payment plan.
INTENSIVES (1-week)
Full course tuition in advance of course starting date is required to secure a seat.
13. Does Armstrong Acting Studios offer a tuition payment plan?
The Armstrong Acting Studios does offer students a payment plan for
semester courses only. Actors opting to spread out payments
throughout the term must agree to a $25 late fee as well as have the
balance paid by the sixth week of class.
In order to be
eligible for the plan, actors should come prepared on the first day of
class ready to submit credit card information OR post-dated cheques for
automatic billing.
14. What is the Armstrong Acting Studios' refund policy for missed classes?
13 weeks - SEMESTER CLASSES
Prior to start date...
Student
must cancel 7 calendar days in advance of start date to receive a full
refund. Cancellations less than 7 days in advance will result in a
partial refund (tuition less $100 plus GST = $105 non-refundable
deposit).
Withdrawal before 3rd class
Actors can request
a refund of the last 7 classes or credit of unused classes to be used
towards another class of either 6-week or 13-week duratiion, valid for
one calendar year.
Withdrawal on or after 3rd class
Student
can request a credit of unused classes to be used towards another class
of either 6-week or 13-week duration (must be used in the next 2
years). There will be a $100 transfer fee charged at the time of rebook
plus cost of classes not covered by credit.
INTENSIVES (1-week intensive course)
Prior to start date ...
Student
must cancel 7 calendar days in advance of start date to receive a full
refund. Cancellation less than 7 days in advance will result in a
partial refund (tuition less $50 plus GST = $52.50 non-refundable
deposit).
On/after start date....
There are no refunds or credits given for intensives.
