Course Description: This is a level two on camera training class. Ideal for actors with base theoretical and practical experience in film + television. Actors who have secured professional work on screen including independent productions, actor, and small principal roles in recognized episodic and feature films will be considered for enrollment.

Class Focus: First six weeks: on camera audition technique + mid-term evaluation. Last 6 weeks: on camera partnered scene study, end of term evaluation with a 13th week showcase and industry adjudication with School Director Dean Armstrong.

Class Content (includes): Text analysis, character development, relationship + environment study, on camera audition and on set technique + preparation, the call back with one redirect, the working call back, the table read, creating the illusion of spontaneity + immediacy in scripted work, defining and structuring the frame and defining industry competitiveness.

3 AUDITION SCENES + 1 PARTNERED SCENE.

Class Agenda: On camera tool acquisition, isolating individual strengths + weaknesses, defining how to translate work effectively + competitively on screen.

All classes at AAS are documented on DVD for in class review. The camera rolls as instructor notes are documented for continued at home learning, understanding and development.

Requirements: Previous theoretical and practical experience. Headshot and resume.

Please Note: AAS instructors actively work in the film and television industry and as such may develop conflicts preventing them from fulfilling their teaching obligations. In the event a conflict arises, a suitable instructor with equal experience will be brought in.

HOW OUR 2 WEEK AAS INTENSIVE CLASSES WORK

These classes are exclusive to AAS TEEN ACTORS ONLY. AAS features 5 levels of classes: INTRODUCTORY, LEVEL 1 (Beginner), LEVEL 2 (Intermediate), LEVEL 3 (Advanced) and LEVEL 4 (Master Class). AAS 2-week intensive classes operate five days a week for a two-week duration. Week one is designated to on-camera audition technique and week two to scene study. Said study units are taught exclusively by the same instructor for the full 10 classes. All classes at AAS are on camera. A DVD will be provided on DAY 1 to all actors for in class performance documentation and take home review. Instructor notes are documented on individual DVD's for continued outside learning and development. Only professional episodic and feature film scripts are used. Successful completion of AAS two-week Intensive classes may be used for consideration of regular Term (fall + winter) placement.

HOW OUR 1 WEEK AAS INTENSIVE CLASSES WORK

AAS features 5 levels of classes: INTRODUCTORY, LEVEL 1 (Beginner), LEVEL 2 (Intermediate), LEVEL 3 (Advanced) and LEVEL 4 (Master Class). All 1-week Intensive classes focus exclusively on the on-camera audition. Classes run Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A 4 scene in 4 days structure is designed to prep actors for carrying the responsibilities of multiple major auditions in the same week. All classes at AAS are on camera. A DVD will be provided on DAY 1 to all actors for in class performance documentation and take home review. Instructor notes are documented on individual DVD's for continued outside learning and development. Only professional episodic and feature film scripts are used. Successful completion of AAS 1 week Intensive classes may be used for consideration of regular Term (fall + winter) placement.

Voice Workshop- General American Dialects

Course Description: This course is designed for working actors, either Canadians or ESL speakers, who want to adopt the Standard North American dialect preferred by most casting directors.

Class Agenda: Adopt "general American" speech behaviours. Compare general American to existing dialect. Work text and monologues to apply general American dialect.

HOW OUR 6 WEEK TERM WORKS

AAS features 5 levels of classes: INTRODUCTORY, LEVEL 1 (Beginner), LEVEL 2 (Intermediate), LEVEL 3 (Advanced) and LEVEL 4 (Master Class). AAS 6-week compressed Term classes operate twice a week during daytime hours and are split between on camera audition technique and scene study. Said study units are taught exclusively by the same instructor for the full 12 classes. All classes at AAS are on camera. A DVD will be provided on DAY 1 to all actors for in class performance documentation and take home review. Instructor and guest artist notes are documented on individual DVD's for continued outside learning and development. Only professional episodic and feature film scripts are used. Daytime Term classes do not feature a 13^th class adjudication. Class 12 is considered the close of the term and will be attended by either the School Director or a designated Industry Guest. On this day, Industry Grades will be assigned to determine actor placement for continued training at the school. Adjudications feature a closed-door policy, open only to AAS faculty, staff and immediate friends and/or family of participating actors. All adjudications feature immediate feedback and commentary related to individual performances as well as a brief Q + A at the close of the class. A Final Report Card will be completed by every instructor and issued to all participating actors. Final grades are also used to determine class placement for actors continuing to train at AAS.

AAS features 5 levels of classes: INTRODUCTORY, LEVEL 1 (Beginner), LEVEL 2 (Intermediate), LEVEL 3 (Advanced) and LEVEL 4 (Master Class). Most 13-week Term classes are split (6 weeks + 6 weeks) between on camera audition technique and scene study* with a 13th week/class adjudication. Applicable classes feature 2 different AAS instructors at the beginning of the Term and then at the Mid-Term juncture to head each discipline. All classes at AAS are on camera. A DVD will be provided on DAY 1 to all actors for in class performance documentation and take home review. Instructor and guest artist notes are documented on individual DVD's for continued outside learning and development. Only professional episodic and feature film scripts are used. The 13th class, live studio taping and adjudication, will be completed by one of the following: The School Director, Artistic Director or an invited Industry Guest. On this day, Industry Grades will be assigned to determine actor placement for continued training at the school. Adjudications feature a closed-door policy, open only to AAS faculty, staff and immediate friends and/or family of participating actors. All adjudications feature immediate feedback and commentary related to individual performances as well as a brief Q + A at the close of the class. Mid-Term and final report cards* will be completed by every instructor and issued to all participating actors. Final grades are also used to determine class placement for actors continuing to train at AAS.
*INTRODUCTORY TO ON CAMERA PERFORMANCE FEATURES A MONOLOGUE COMPONENT + ADDITIONAL TIME ON AUDITION TECHNIQUE. ALL MASTER CLASSES ARE TAUGHT EXLCUSIVELY BY THE SCHOOL DIRECTOR AND/OR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR. THE ACTORS WORKOUT III IS TAUGHT ONLY BY THE SCHOOL ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND FEATURES 9 WEEKS OF SCENE STUDY + 3 WEEKS OF ON CAMERA AUDITION.
*THERE IS NO MID-TERM REPORT FOR THE ACTORS WORKOUT III
