Course Description: This class is simply about doing it! For aspiring actors who always wondered, but never did or for those needing a jolt out of their comfort zone. If you were ever curious about film + television performance or were once told that you should be "an actor", then this is the class for you! Experience first hand what today's actors are doing. Don't just imagine how it might have been, or how it might be, know for yourself how it is and how the camera sees you. This class has been designed for beginners, so there is absolutely no pressure and you will most certainly not be alone! Whether it is the simple satisfaction of curiosity, or whether you are serious about pursuing a career, this is your opportunity to do! Everyone started somewhere. Learn how to beat the odds of the industry at any age and at any level, or at the very least, have the experience of now knowing. In this class, you will experience the on camera audition, learn how to interpret and breakdown a script as well as work along side your peers in a scene study structure. For the duration of the class you will be an actor as you tackle assigned episodic and feature material with the tools required to meet industry standard and expectation.
Class Focus: First six weeks: monologues, on camera partnered scene study + mid-term evaluation. Last 6 weeks: on camera audition technique, end of term evaluation with a 13th week showcase and industry adjudication with School Director Dean Armstrong.
Class Content (includes): Text analysis, character development, relationship + environment study, on camera audition and on set technique + preparation, the call back with one redirect, the working call back, the table read, creating the illusion of spontaneity + immediacy in scripted work, defining and structuring the frame and defining industry competitiveness.
